The biggest worry of the parents of children with special needs is that who will look after the children when they are gone. The siblings or the extended family are unlikely to look after them, especially in urban areas where families have become largely nuclear in nature with no one to fall back upon. Government, with its limited resources also cannot provide any alternative care facilities.
Khushboo understood the anxiety of the families about future sustenance of these children, decided to set up a residential facility for such children. As a first step, it has purchased 3 acres of land at Tauru, Haryana for this purpose.
Tauru is a Municipal Committee city in district of Nuh in Mewat region of Haryana. It is a part of the NCR and one of the aspirational districts recommended by Niti Ayog. It is about 40 Kms from Gurgaon and has a reasonably good infrastructure. It has a well-developed market, medical facilities, transport service etc. and is also well connected to the Delhi-Jaipur Highway.
The residential facility will have a group of 8 houses on this campus, each house becoming home to 5-7 children who live with a professional caregiver. This unit becomes a family for life. So each person has a home, a family and lives in a caring community. It will provide an environment closest to that of a biological family the proposed residential facility will provide them round the clock care under the supervision of experts. The essential staff will also stay with the children on the campus. It will provide a range of care services which are defined as follows:
